Blue Jays option reliever Braydon Fisher to triple-A Buffalo

August 20, 2025

Shortly after a 2-1 loss to the Pirates on Wednesday, the Jays announced reliever Braydon Fisher had been optioned to triple-A Buffalo.

Fisher struck out one batter in the loss.

The move comes as somewhat of a surprise as Fisher has been stellar in his rookie campaign. The right-hander, who was acquired from the Dodgers for Cavan Biggio last June, owns a 3.05 ERA in 38.1 innings while striking out 49 batters.

With Bieber’s return and manager John Schneider announcing Eric Lauer’s temporary move to the bullpen, someone was bound to be on the outside looking in.

But the 25-year-old had options remaining, unlike others in the pen, meaning they could send him to triple-A without the risk of another team putting in a claim.

The Blue Jays and Bieber return to action Friday in Miami, with first pitch at 7:10 p.m. ET / 6:10 p.m. CT.
