Four great players the Calgary Flames franchise seem to let fall through the cracks are: John, Matt, Sean and, the 2025 Conn Smythe Trophy winner, Sam Bennett. Maybe the Flames will luck-out at the upcoming NHL draft and get the ball rolling again? Perhaps, the Calgary Flames’ woes aren’t so much on their bench or behind it, through the years? Perhaps, it has been in their very own front office all along? A little soul-searching might be the right medicine down at the Dome?

Not sad Oilers lost

Maybe it was the blasphemy in calling Connor McJesus. Maybe it was Gretz hanging out with Not So Swift. Maybe it was shut-er down Carney and the Carnival of Lies skating with them. Maybe it was their wives going to Greece to party in the middle of the Cup Final, or McDavid’s hard as nails wife and the rat campaign. Maybe it was the false hope that Canada would support them to win, but I am one who is really happy they lost to a class team like the Panthers.

KNOWING NOT A PREREQUISITE

Re: FIRST READING: The new public safety minister doesn’t appear to know stuff, online, June 10

You would think that to become a minister responsible for any portfolio, that person should have at least a working knowledge of what he/she is looking after, but you would be wrong. The new minister of public safety really does not have a clue, and it showed during question period when asked about the most basic rules around firearms as well as the decriminalization of hard drugs.

This way of thinking runs rampant in every level of government, and I saw it first hand when totally competent people were micro-managed and forced to explain every aspect of their job because the new boss didn’t want to look stupid when questioned on something he/she knew nothing about.

There are only two ways to become a good boss: The first is to come through the ranks and understand what you are looking at, or second, allow those underneath you to make all the relevant decisions and you just stand there and look pretty.
