The 125th U.S. Open from Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pa., has been delayed by dangerous weather.
Players have resumed practising and the USGA is targeting 5:40 PM ET to resume play, per the NBC broadcast.
Sam Burns holds the lead at 2-under through seven holes and is battling it out in the final pairing with Adam Scott in second place at 1-under, as they both search for their first career major victory.
A torrential downpour soaked the course and play was officially suspended as of 4:01 PM ET, right after Burns and Scott carded fours on the par-4 7th.
Viktor Hovland and Tyrrell Hatton, both also in search of their first majors, were tied for third at 1-over, just ahead of the leaders on the ninth hole.
J.J. Spaun came into Sunday in third place, but bogeyed five of the first nine holes to drop to 2-over.
