Canada Post shakeup needed
Article content
Over the last fiscal year, Canada Post has lost $841 million. Since 2018, it has run up $3.8 billion in red ink. Because ongoing worker disgruntlement and strike threats have become the norm at Canada Post, many companies and citizens have switched to reliable private courier services, thereby costing it tens of millions annually. Dependability of service is essential in the business world. The fact Canada Post workers keep wanting more in pay and benefits shows leadership is seriously lacking. There needs to be a major shakeup in Canada Post management aimed at improving both quality and reliability of service, and improving worker contentment.

Controlling our lives
Re “Carney’s Liberals hiding immigration data as questions mount” (Brian Lilley, Aug. 11): Why is this a surprise? Mark Carney, a total stranger to most Canadians, was chosen in a secret sinister Liberal coup that in partnership with our liberal mainstream media gerrymandered this ruinous green global oligarch into our PMO! As we now see, he is, of course, just a slicker version of Justin Trudeau and has continued that plot to destroy our country with the same old, same old radical left ruinous policies. I fervently hope the gullible fools whose votes enabled this steal are the first to suffer the deprivations of their decision to put another deceitful Liberal in control of our lives!

Brief upgrade
Many seem surprised by the polls at the level of public support our current prime minister enjoys. I would submit he enjoys the benefit of a low bar and the mess left by Justin Trudeau which, at least for the moment, makes him look like an upgrade. We’ll see!

Fevered folly?
Lorne Gunter seems to think that only in the “fevered minds of environmentalists” does it make sense for the feds to push EV vehicles on it (Pure folly for Grits to try to force EVs on us, Aug. 13). Has Mr. Gunter not been following the climate news for the past decade? After all, he is old enough (like me) to realize that what has been going on climate-wise over that timeframe is anything but normal. This year every province except P.E.I. has been struggling with wildfires. A government’s responsibility should be to do what’s best for the majority of their constituents. They pass laws, which aren’t always appreciated by segments of the population. But if the endgame is for the betterment of society and the environment, then we need to realize many aspects of our lifestyles are not sustainable over the long run.
